The Old Millhouse Inn, a 16th Century riverside public house in the historic village of Polperro has been sold by licensed property specialist, Sidney Phillips.
The Old Millhouse Inn stands amongst the narrow winding streets close to the harbour of this ancient Cornish village. Polperro is one of Cornwall’s favourite tourist destinations as the village has changed little over the centuries. Tourism is now the major industry with up to 25,000 visitors a day visiting Polperro during the peak Summer months. The village stands in a valley with steeply wooded hillside. A large car park stands at the head of the village and is served by a vintage minibus which transports tourists to the village centre. The narrow winding streets tend to converge around the fishing harbour which still has a number of fishing vessels. Polperro was a noted smugglers village as were many Cornish villages on this picturesque coastline.
This well-presented property benefits from a main bar, games room and separate dining room, as well as seven en-suite letting bedrooms.
The property has been sold to local operators who are already established in the village, operating a successful hospitality business nearby. The Old Millhouse Inn will make a stunning addition to their already thriving business which is only expected to strengthen off the back of the increase in staycations expected in the coming years.
Sidney Phillips sold the freehold interest of the Old Millhouse Inn off an asking price of £395,000.
