One of the Oldest Craft Brewers in the UK Acquires Kent’s Curious Brewery

One of England’s original craft breweries, St Peter’s, has acquired Curious Brewery, 2019’s Brewery of the Year.

St Peter’s, founded in 1996, by John Murphy has become an award-winning brewery specialising in craft beer and is based in Suffolk. It was one of the first in the UK to produce such beer and now export to over 20 countries in the world.

Curious Brewery brews their beer in Kent in a state-of-the-art facility and produces the popular bottles of Curious Brew and Wild IPA, to name a couple.

As a result of the acquisition, St Peter’s will now have a plethora of award-winning beers, produced by the Curious Brewery, under their belt as they build a healthy portfolio of special beer brands. They may now be able to push their presence in the South East of England with their takeover of the Ashford-based company.

The chairman and managing director at Curious Brewery have stepped down following the deal and St Peter’s CEO, Derek Jones, has taken leadership. It is hoped the well-established St Peter’s can bring a security to the long-term future of the innovative Curious Brewery and the move makes a change to the ongoing takeovers and closures of independent brands by massive multinational breweries in the industry.
