Leisure and hospitality specialist Sidney Phillips has announced the sale of the Piltdown Man, near Uckfield in East Sussex.
The Piltdown Man lies just south of Ashdown Forest, with the village is best known for the Piltdown Man Hoax where amateur archaeologist, Charles Dawson, claimed to have discovered evidence of the ‘missing link’. The premises enjoys a visible position on the busy A272 thoroughfare running between Uckfield and Haywards Heath.
It is a notable detached public house benefitting from bar and dining areas for 60, a three bedroom accommodation, one bedroom holiday let and large outside trade space. The business operates as a traditional pub and restaurant and draws in trade from destination diners. In addition, the business is highly popular with car enthusiasts utilising the large car park, holding regular events for six car owners clubs.
The leasehold interest of the Piltdown Man has been purchased by an existing operator for continued use, off an asking price of £40,000.
