In March 2023, Nature Can released a list of the ’50 Coolest Places to Live in the UK’, the top three comprising Polperro, Cornwall, Wells-next-the-Sea, Norfolk and Marlow, Buckinghamshire. The only Herefordian town included on the list was Ledbury, the famed Tudor town in the east of the county near the Gloucestershire and Worcestershire borders.
The town, with a population of 9,290, has a beautiful centre with Market Square and Market Hall, leading from a cobbled street to the Parish Church. Located on this street is the Prince of Wales, one of the UK’s most photographed public houses. The property, dating back to the 15th century, is a renowned real ale destination with three beamed bars and three-bedroom owners’ accommodation.

A private individual from the town of Ledbury itself purchased the freehold interest of the Prince of Wales off a freehold asking price of £475,000.
