The Pymore Inn in the village of Pymore, which lies one mile north of the coastal town of Bridport, has been sold on behalf of our clients Barry and Irene Clapham, who will now look forward to a well-earned retirement. The Pymore Inn has sold to a successful entrepreneur who has wasted no time in restoring this fine listed property. Richard Jones from the South West office of Sidney Phillips reported that The Pymore Inn created strong competitive interest with the sale completing in double quick time. The Pymore Inn sold off an asking price of £445,000.
The Elm Tree at Langton Herring near Weymouth is another Dorset Free House sold by the South West office. Langton Herring, despite being small has a fascinating history. It is a doubly thankful village meaning no residents were lost in the two World Wars and consequently there is no war memorial. The Elm Tree was used by Barnes-Wallace when he was perfecting the bouncing bomb in tests on the fleet beside Chesil Beach on the edge of the village. During the Cold War military secrets were passed over in meetings between double agents with this area being featured in the film “Treason". The new owner intends to promote the history of the Elm Tree with ambitions to add letting rooms. The Elm Tree was sold off an asking price of £400,000.
The third Dorset Freehold Free House sold in June is the Coach and Horses on the A35 near Dorchester. This has been a sleeping giant, which is about to be awakened by successful operators who operate elsewhere in Dorset. A major renovation project is about to get underway involving an innovative name change. The Coach and Horses sale went through quickly in an “off-market” transaction, for an undisclosed sum.
